The ESG Advisory Center of Expertise team is part of a broader ESG Advisory group at EDC. As part of the first line of defense (1LD), our team is responsible for helping fulfill EDC’s commitments to conduct business in a responsible and ethical manner and integrate our ESG values in the business we do. This role will be an integral team member of the ESG-COE. The vision of the ESG-COE is a to be a support function for the lines of business in order to support the customers’ ESG journey (in relation to Environmental, Social and Financial Crimes (FC) risks) and ensure this journey is efficient and effective.

This Senior Risk Advisor position will support achieving the ESG-COE vision as it relates to FC risks in our business transactions and relationships, including bribery and corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions and external fraud. This is an opportunity for an individual who is a resourceful self-starter, that thrives in a dynamic team environment, to work directly on the ever evolving FC risk management in the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly manages and engages with multiple stakeholders (the lines of business, business support groups, ESG Advisory, Compliance and Ethics-Financial Crimes) building high levels of professional credibility.

  • Engages with multiple stakeholders across EDC to: identify priorities and areas where support is required; identify changes to FC Policy and/or Guidelines; maintain a master list of Policies, Guidelines and Procedures (PGPs) identifying owners, approval dates and approvers to ensure documents remain current, coordinates revisions with impacted business and/or support groups; identify change impacts and training needs to ensure application of risk management practices.

  • Facilitates effective communication, across ESG Advisory, policy and strategy teams, lines of business, ensuring processes and standards are adhered to and non-credit risk systems are optimized.

  • Leverages in-depth knowledge of EDC products, FC risks and processes to identify and implement process efficiencies/effectiveness.

  • Develops and implements FC processes and procedures across multiple stakeholder and engages stakeholders to develop and/or update process maps to reflect changes to procedures that impact workflow.

  • Reviews end user issues/requests, prioritizes issues, identifies and consults with impacted Stakeholders to develop and implement solutions to address the issues.

  • Leads multi-functional projects with high complexity and/or innovative ideas.

  • In consultation with the lines of business and/or support groups, identifies and prioritizes FC training requirements, collaborates with subject matter experts to develop FC training, and delivers training.

  • Performs periodic quality assurance activities of ESG Advisory outputs to ensure compliance with procedures, job aids and quality of outputs.

  • Executes effective project management to develop action plans that involve multiple stakeholders to address findings from internal audits, OAG audits, monitoring and testing, and risk assessments.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Political Science or other related field.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Financial Crimes Enhanced Due Diligence risk management or risk management equivalent.

  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication and influencing skills.

  • Self-starter, independent and willingness to adapt in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Experience with project management, process improvement, multi-tasking and interacting with multiple stakeholders.

Asset

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).

  • Professional certification such as CPA, CAMS, Trace TASA, CFE, CFF, CFCS etc.

  • Experience working in a matrix organization.

  • Work Experience / professional certification in data analytics

Salary Range:

  • ESG Risk Management 19: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $107 132 To $142 842..

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto.
