This role in summary

The role is located in the Global Product Organization within the Refrigeration Platform. The engineer will be responsible for the system/subsystem deliverables, including development, execution, verification and validation, working with global cross functional teams during various phases of projects and across various technologies.

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Drive Product Development projects for the refrigeration business

  • Project implementation using the concurrent engineering mindset by closely working with key stakeholders such as system integrators, mechanical structures subsystems, Thermal subsystems (Cooling and Ice & Water), industrial engineers, marketing, verification & validation team, controls, sourcing and procurement, manufacturing, etc

  • Concurrent engineering application: starting with multiple concepts development and converging to preferred concepts by use of concept evaluation tools, design development, simulation and verification and validation methods.

  • Development of detailed design considering materials, design for manufacturing, design for assembly, simulation based design, cost, aesthetics, craftsmanship, safety, bill of materials maintenance, planning, etc

  • Design capture by use of Failure Modes and Effects analysis (FMEA), requirements capture, Design guides, drawings, Tolerance Stack ups, A3s, functional decompositions, etc

  • Use of OPEx (Six Sigma) tools and fundamentals to drive product development. Use of critical thinking, Design of Experiments (DOEs), Component of Variations (COVs), Thought Maps, Process Maps, etc

  • Submitting simulation requests with clear boundary condition definitions, and interpret results to make necessary design modifications. Use of tolerance analysis to drive sensitivity in the simulation results

  • Work with Procurement teams, suppliers and manufacturing teams to support product builds

  • Drive intellectual property protection by submitting patents applications

  • Responsible for design, cost, quality trade offs as well as project key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with the project plan

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 2+ years of Engineering & Technical experience in product development

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Lean Product Development, Six Sigma Certified, Design for Safety/Reliability;

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering/Thermodynamics

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Structures (plastic or metal sheet components) and/or Thermodynamics

  • Project Management skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Desire to grow, learn and take on new and challenging tasks

  • Analytical skills, experience in solving practical issues, and engaging cross-functional teams of multiple process partners to a consensus

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines; handle multiple tasks

  • Self-driven and motivated

  • Knowledgeable in Google Suite tools
