Description of Department:

The School of Education includes more than 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The School of Education has a Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office and six academic departments, including Career and Technical Educator Preparation, Counseling and Psychological Services, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Health Promotion and Wellness, and Technology, with 60 programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, including in-person and online modalities. SoE faculty are committed teachers and scholars who work with their students to solve problems and arrive at insights by looking across disciplinary boundaries, working on cutting-edge research, and using technology to connect globally. The SoE works closely with other academic units - particularly the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences - which provides content area education for teacher candidates. SoE faculty and staff are in the renovated Park and Wilber Halls. The Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) recently accredited the SoE. The School of Education at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a full-time Data Manager for Assessment position.

Compensation: SL2 (https://www.suny.edu/hr/compensation/salary/) - commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Date of Appointment: As soon as possible

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Manage the electronic data management system (i.e., Tk20 by Watermark) that collects and stores evidence and assessments across School of Education (SoE) programs

  • Oversee input and maintenance of data (clinical placement information, student course schedules, etc.) to the data management system

  • Manage user access within the data management system, communicating with stakeholders as needed (e.g., vendor, campus offices, external partners)

  • Facilitate implementation of program assessment plans with the distribution and collection of key assessments within the data management system, monitoring completion rates among users

  • Manage the dissemination of assessment data from the electronic data management system in support of evidence for accreditation, specialized professional standards, institutional and unit priorities

  • Support users (e.g., faculty, staff, students, external partners) in utilizing the data management system, troubleshoot user interface concerns and develop guidance materials

  • Support statistical analyses to review and summarize assessment results; use statistical analyses to monitor fairness, reliability, and validity of assessments

  • Support annual and periodic reporting of data analyses and action planning as a result of assessments

  • Support the development of self-studies and institutional reports

  • Support the SoE in collecting data from across the university and unit to meet external reporting and accountability requirements

  • Attend professional development conferences and workshops related to the job function

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment

  • Demonstrated ability in data collection and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to use databases and software associated with data collection and analysis

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team while also independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant and successful experience with academic program evaluation, assessment, and accreditation in a higher education setting

  • Experience with assessment related to specific program assessment standards and processes for accreditation

  • Knowledge of best practices in data privacy and information security

  • Experience managing data visualization tools
