Cretex Quality Control Technician in Oskaloosa, Kansas

We are currently recruiting one full-timeQuality Control Technician to join our Oskaloosa KS team. The main duties of this position consist of pre-inspection and post-inspection of precast concrete pipe, manholes, and related products including reinforcement, mix design, concrete placement and consolidation, and curing and pre-inspection of forms. This person will assist with the implementation of best practices and techniques in regards to quality and mix design optimization. Essential Functions: * Prepares and performs formulation tests that support the creation, development and improvement of new and existing standard, premium, performance and specialty mixes. Perform materials and product testing of concrete cylinder strength, three edge bearing, absorption, air slump, and final visual inspection of products. May include travel to jobsites for quality testing. * Perform lab duties including preparing and running lab formulation trials, cylinder/beam preparation, testing and data logging. * Perform and document quality control tests in accordance with established local (city and state) and national standards (ACI, ASTM). * Conduct quality control tests without supervision and within the precision standards established by ASTM, ACI, and AASHTO. * Sample raw materials for validation at the lab and conduct mix adjustments (at the plant or in the field) using admixtures as required. * Accept final product by proper product marking, production counts, document and record keeping, and daily job order processing using in house MRP software. * Provide customer support in resolving quality concerns and problems in the field working with the QC manager, including job site testing. * Assist sales, drivers, other QC personnel and managers as needed/required. * Comply with all safety regulations, maintain clean and orderly work areas and adhere to company OSHA safety guidelines at all times. Promote a safe work environment for all staff, vendors, and customers. * Additional tasks may include maintaining a clean work area, free of safety hazards; comply with all Company policies and directives for the fulfillment of maximum production and quality objectives. _ Qualifications/ Requirements: * Requires a High School Diploma/GED. * Must be at least 18 years of age. * Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and able to generate spreadsheets for data collection preferred. Proficient in use of basic windows PC; PC based automation experience preferred. * Able to read plans and specification requirements. * Basic knowledge of measurement instruments, I.E. calipers, dial indicators, etc. * Able to work and communicate well within a team environment with the ability to be self-motivated and problem solve when necessary. * Ability to follow specific instructions and procedures as well as instruct others. * Quality and safety oriented, with attention to detail. Physical Requirements: * Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds frequently. * Perform work standing for 8-10 hours per day, up to 6 days per week. * Employee required to talk, hear, stand, walk, push, pull, sit, use hands, handle, feel, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. * Job sometimes demands close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * While performing duties, employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. Noise level is also high in the work environment. * Ability to pass a standard physical test prior to start date Preferred Qualifications:_ * Previous knowledge of precast concrete and its components including production. * ACI Concrete strength testing. * Knowledge of standards and specification including ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and MNDOT. * Trained/certified Mn/DOT level 1, Concrete Field Tester or ACI, Grade 1, or ACI Field testing 1.
