Summary of Position:
Mercury Marine R&D Engineering is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Hydrodynamics Engineering Test Team. This entry position will focus on supporting engine and component on-water testing and development activities required to deliver world class performing marine products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Rig engines, control systems and steering systems on test boats and verify proper setup/operation for product testing.
Assist Hydrodynamics Testing Technicians with performing various tests.
Must have the ability and skills to safely drive and operate various boat types and at various speeds. low horsepower tiller O/B’s up to a high speed, multi engine boats.
Must be able to consistently and repeatadly lift 50lbs
Must be able to work independently
Some travel in winter months (Nov. thru April) required.
Minimal travel during summer months.
Must be willing to work overtime hours
Must be able to work in inclement weather and perform duties.
Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on test equipment
Basic Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the marine industry.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of marine engines, engine systems, electronic controls and propellers.
Must be comfortable operating large fork trucks, which are used to launch, recover and maneuver boats in boat yard.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Boating Safety course. Such as USCG Boating Safety Course.
Must have the ability to pass a Basic Water Safety/Survival Course and Swimming Test
Must have the ability to pass First Aid Course.
Must have the ability to obtain a DOT non CDL physical exam card.
Must be comfortable trailer towing boats.
Flexible to ever changing priorities and environments.
Selfless, can do attitude, working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Experience in Marine Outboard and I/O troubleshooting and maintenance.
Basic machine shop and fabrication skills.
Willingness to learn data acquisition systems and supporting instrumentation a plus.
