Statement of the Job:

The Student Wellness Educator is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the Student Wellness Resource Center. This includes development and implementation of programs, workshops, evaluations, assessments, brief interventions, and individual plans for students with regard to use of alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, other drugs, sexual violence, and hazing. Utilizing SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework, the Student Wellness Resource Center promotes student wellness through campus-wide training, educational programs, and brief interventions for students to include developing information campaigns on health promotion, educational interventions, and prevention science while prioritizing at-risk populations such as first year students, student athletes, and Greek life members.

The University provides 13 paid holidays, up to 20 days of vacation time, and up to 20 days of sick time during your first fiscal year. The University provides a 10% retirement contribution as long as the employee contributes 4%. Typical hiring range for this position is $42,500 to $45,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Generally has the education associated with a master's degree in public health, higher education, substance abuse education/prevention, student personnel, or a related discipline.

  • Prior experience in educational program development/delivery using multiple platforms.

  • Prior experience with supervision such as hiring, coaching, and action plans.

  • Public speaking and multimedia presentation experience.

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivation and thoroughness.

  • Demonstrate ability to work in a professional and collaborative manner with all levels of the university and division, including those from underrepresented groups.

  • Strong organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Previous work experience in a higher education setting.
