University of Maine System Financial Coordinator in Orono, Maine

The College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences is seeking a highly qualified person to fill the position of Finance Coordinator. This position serves as the primary contact and support for the financial functions of the Dean’s office, including coordinating the flow of financial information, providing procurement and accounting support to the Dean’s office while acting as a backup to college units for these functions, and providing other direct support where needed. This person reports to the Associate Director for Finance & Budget for the college and will interact with a wide variety of individuals throughout the college and the shared service units within the University of Maine and University of Maine System. The college is a large complex organization made up of eight schools, three academic departments, numerous teaching and research facilities, five research farms, a green house, a marine center and the University Forests. The college has a base budget of approximately $30 million dollars and an additional $15 to $20 million in grants awarded annually. Typical hiring salary for this position is $42,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Typically has the education associated with an associate degree and at least one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven record of teamwork, customer service and professionalism.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize, multi-task and complete work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent spreadsheet and technical skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and mathematical skills.

  • Proven attention to detail and focus on accuracy.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of MaineStreet financial applications or similar systems experience.

  • Experience in account reconciliation, purchasing, travel, and expense reports.
