University of Maine System AVS Program Coordinator and Academic Advisor in Orono, Maine
Position is open to current University of Maine employees only.
Major responsibilities of the AVS Program Coordinator & Advisor include coordinating the heavily enrolled Bachelor of Science degree program in Animal and Veterinary Sciences (AVS), acting as program contact for prospective students and transfer students, leading recruiting efforts, advising undergraduate students, developing and revising advising materials, assisting in program assessment and curriculum activities, supporting program teaching needs, developing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external constituencies, and serving as an advising resource for students on campus during regular business hours. Typical hiring salary for this position is $50,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, liberal arts or an academic field directly related to the Animal and Veterinary Sciences and two years of relevant experience.
Valid Maine driver’s license.
Preferred:
Master's degree in education, counseling, liberal arts, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience.
Formal training in an area of study related to animal sciences.
Prior experience in advising students at the undergraduate level.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of UMaine regulations and procedures to facilitate student advising.
