Looking for full-time work with benefits? The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is seeking applicants to work full-time (40 hours per week) as aLandscape Foremanat State Hospital North in Orofino. Incumbents may work in all weather conditions. This position will work 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday, and a rotating on-call schedule. This position will maintain our beautiful campus that has open spaces, and walking paths for our employees and patients to enjoy.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Supervises daily operations of grounds crew.

  • Oversees the motor pool for patient/staff vehicles, tracks motor pool mileage, and schedules any services/repairs on Hospital Transport Vehicles, cleans and washes transport vehicles, schedules winter and summer tire changes.

  • Plans and designs landscaping and grounds activities.

  • Ensures work is accomplished according to plan and schedule.

  • Trains employees in grounds activities.

  • Prunes trees, seeds and sods lawn areas, removes trees and shrubs, prepares flower beds and weeds, fertilizers and waters lawn and planting areas.

  • Applies pesticides and herbicides to lawn.

  • Operates equipment such as front-end loader, dump truck, snow blower, rototiller, multi-winged mower, chain saw, backhoe, trencher, tree spade and various hand and power tools associated with landscaping.

  • Completes water testing as appropriate.

  • Maintains grounds care equipment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Considerable knowledge of grounds maintenance and related safety practices to include good knowledge of plant and soil types, horticulture and professional landscaping practices and experience mixing and using landscape chemicals.Typically gained by at least two years of work experience and training in grounds maintenance to include an understanding of soils, horticulture, professional landscaping practices, including mixing chemicals.

  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment and hand and power tools associated with landscaping and grounds maintenance to include performing mechanical diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on grounds equipment.Typically gained by at least two years of work experience operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment to include changing oil, sharpening blades, repairing tires and tuning-up equipment.

  • Some knowledge of sprinkler system layout and design to include experience installing and maintaining sprinkler systems.Typically gained by at least one year of work experience designing, installing and maintaining sprinkler systems.

  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices.Typically gained by a class or seminar (more than one day), specifically covering supervisory practicesORleadwork experience that required work direction, monitoring work, and making work assignments (such experience on a fill-in basis is not qualifying unless for a period of approximately three months or more).
