Signature Aviation VP, IT Product and Platform Engineering (Remote) in Orlando, Florida

The Vice President of IT Product and Platform Engineering will play a critical role in driving Signature Aviation’s global digital business strategy through website engineering, software development, deployment, and development operations. As the cornerstone of scalable digital transformation, this function will lead product engineering across Signature Aviation’s technology delivery model. This position will serve as the key IT leader responsible for overseeing technology delivery for all business areas.

The VP will manage end-to-end digital software development processes using Agile methodologies and ensure the creation of high-quality software solutions. They will also be accountable for 24/7 technology support across IT domains, including e-commerce, marketing, base operations, and corporate systems. Working closely with Signature’s operations, commercial teams (marketing, pricing, real estate), finance, HR, and shared services (e.g., ServiceNow, EPIC), this leader will provide technical oversight to ensure world-class technology solutions that enhance guest services, optimize costs, and drive incremental value.

Additionally, this role will shape the organization’s delivery model by building a modernized product development and engineering team. This will involve recruiting top talent and collaborating with strategic vendors and partners to identify innovative solutions, including off-the-shelf packages, internal development, and integration leadership as needed. The VP will also be responsible for platform engineering, covering data integration, data warehousing, data science, and AI platform delivery. Leading the user experience, product, IT, and process engineering teams, the VP will prioritize the development of new products and solutions that address core business priorities.

This position is integral to the vision and strategy of the organization. It will report directly to the Chief Digital and Information Officer and lead a team of internal FTEs and third-party resources while providing leadership for the Global IT Application Development and Data Services teams. This requires close collaboration with Signature and IT stakeholders. This role will be accountable for all aspects of project delivery and will require strict discipline around budget management, providing the appropriate financial control around operation and capital expenses.

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee all aspects of IT Product and Platform Engineering (commercial off-the-shelf or internally developed), integrations, data engineering, AI, and development operations to support Signature Aviation’s 24x7 global operations.

  • Operations/Field (e.g., SIGnet, SHEEBA), Commercial (e.g., eCommerce, Marketing Technologies, Digital Storefront, CRM, Corporate Systems (R/Finance), Shared Services (e.g., Service Management, RPA, Task) multiple applications for EPIC, ServiceNow), Base Operations (POS, Payment, Mobile Technology), Data Services (e.g., Databricks, PowerBI, AI)

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for IT applications and data services across the entire landscape, aligned with Signature functions.

  • Maintain enterprise application and operational strategies in conjunction with other leaders and business executives.

  • Develop enterprise application delivery strategies with business partners and vendors.

  • Implement appropriate service delivery models for core application functions where the technology organization is a trusted adviser in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers.

  • Work with IT Infrastructure, Project Management Office, and functional leaders to resolve challenging application technology issues.

  • Participate in the prioritization of development/enhancement requests

  • Direct the team in setting technology standards, ensuring adherence to standards, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of application systems

  • Ensure that the application support function meets the needs of the business – SLAs, resolution times, etc.

  • Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior industry leaders to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging application technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.

  • Identify and engage the right external partners with onsite/offshore capabilities to deliver high-quality, optimally-cost initiatives across the board.

  • Ensure the proper fiscal controls are in place for project execution.

  • Develop software development strategy utilizing industry standards. Create a roadmap and schedule the implementation of the roadmap based on business requirements and strategy.

  • Lead multi-discipline, high-performance work teams distributed across remote locations effectively. Build, manage, develop, and mentor a team of engineers.

  • Interact with executives across the company to lead the narrative around software engineering

Supervisor and Financial Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for implementation and ongoing maintenance of applications, resolving issues in a timely fashion, and ensuring that the technology meets business requirements

  • Ensure development and implementation of standards and policies for evaluation, implementation, development, and management across application development and data services.

  • Monitor the performance of the application and evaluate the technology services based on specific KPIs

  • Oversee budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff, and services within their span of control.

  • Lead the development of and monitor compliance with security policies and procedures for Application Services.

  • Develop and negotiate preferred information technology vendor contracts and manage key vendor relationships.

  • Attract, hire, train, retain, and develop a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of application management.

  • Lead others in the development of standardized processes and motivate others to adopt processes and procedures in support of exceptional customer service while reducing costs and eliminating non-value-added processes/activities.

  • Design, implement, maintain, and operate departmental Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Management, Information Services, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.

  • Experience in POS, ERP-based Back Office Systems, Financial Consolidation and system rationalization (M&A), and SAAS-based applications.

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex issues.

  • Experience standardizing complex and disparate processes.

  • Technology proficiency with cloud-based systems and environments.

  • Methodologies related to application management include system deployment, support, and Agile/LEAN development life cycle; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, and operational improvement in complex systems.

  • Proven ability to interact and communicate at all levels of an organization. Organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities are critical for success in this position.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, employing software solutions that provide business value.

  • Broad expertise and thorough understanding of current developments and trends in the travel/retail industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in successful application management with virtual teams in the US and working with offshore delivery teams.

  • Experience with onsite/offshore teams in delivering complex initiatives (ERP Solutions, POS Solutions, and multi-site delivery capability).

  • Experience with mission-critical, 24x7 systems

  • Solid experience in payment processing and Digital Transformation deployments.

  • Experience with high throughput cloud-native distributed systems

  • Experience implementing and consuming large-scale web services platforms.

  • Deep knowledge of design patterns

  • Full stack engineering experience

Additional knowledge and skills:

  • Develop budgets and expenditures for information services related to applications. Duties include operating and capital budget development in partnership with other Technology leaders and Finance.

  • Escalate critical issues, problems, or delays in production, projects, or any other issues that impact the customer.

  • Participate actively in optimizing processes and lead initiatives to improve service delivery, increase value, and promote customer service.

  • Oversee information services operations for multiple application divisions/departments and functional areas.

  • Maintain delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable applications and processes that support the growth and financial objectives of the travel, retail, and hospitality industry.

  • Continuously evaluate new and emerging technologies and service delivery opportunities to expand and enhance service and reduce cost.

  • Team with the business and other technical disciplines to develop and maintain appropriate disaster recovery architecture, projects, and policies and participate in application disaster drills.

  • Build data models, create calculations, and develop custom visuals as needed.

  • Collaborate with other developers, data engineers, and business analysts to integrate data from various sources into reports and dashboards.

  • Ensure reports and dashboards are optimized for performance and usability.

  • Create and maintain documentation for all reports and dashboards.

  • Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in Power BI and other reporting tools.
