NBC Universal Senior Specialist, Qualitative Data Collection in Orlando, Florida
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Qualitative Data Collection Specialist will assist with the qualitative projects conducted by our Field teams in Orlando, working closely with the Qualitative and Ethnographic team on new continual and ad hoc qualitative Field projects. This is a pivotal role in supporting the Qualitative Team Captain and ensuring the successful execution of qualitative projects conducted by our Field teams. This role involves leading small teams in data collection and coding, conducting inventory audits, and assisting in the training and monitoring of CI Field Team Captains, Interview Specialists II, Interview Specialists I, and the Qualitative Research Auditors. The Sr. Qualitative Data Collection Specialist is responsible for maintaining break logs, tracking quotas, and ensuring the quality and reliability of data collected. Additionally, this role includes providing leadership in the field, motivating and coaching team members, and providing updates on performance initiatives to senior management of both teams. The Sr. Qualitative Data Collection Specialist will also engage in strategic planning, resource management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of qualitative research projects in the field.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage in data collection and coding
Conduct ad hoc unstructured and semi-structured interviews to collect data on topics of interest.
Conduct fixed counts/observations of guest behaviors, interactions, or other observable phenomenon.
Identify themes deductively and inductively to code data
Engage in Mystery Shop data collection
Conduct covert visits to assigned locations, posing as customers or potential customers to evaluate knowledge, quality, customer service, cleanliness, and overall experience.
Discreetly record shorthand notes and observations of locations and interactions without breaking character and alerting others that you are conducting an auditing report.
Provide detailed, in-the-moment written reports on all assigned locations/criteria, including photo and video documentation as assigned.
Log and submit mileage expense reports and retain and submit accurate itemized receipts.
Conduct internal audits and monitor projects
Conduct internal audits of qualitative field equipment and project incentives, providing detailed reports to the Qualitative Field Leadership team.
Monitor qualitive project break logs and track quotas for qualitative projects in the field.
Audit QRA mystery shops in the field and provide detailed quality assurance reports for senior leadership.
Motivate, coach, and develop team members
Motivate, coach, develop, and complete behavioral observations of Qualitative Research Auditors, CI Field Interviewing Team Captains, CI Field Interview Specialists II, and CI Field Interview Specialists I working qualitative field projects using a standardized rubric.
Support qualitative field training initiatives by facilitating in-field training sessions for new team members.
Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to team members, focusing on skill development and performance improvement.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and suggest innovative solutions to enhance data collection and analysis.
Collaborate with the Team Captain to test and implement new methodologies and tools in the field.
Provide general administrative support
Compile, update, and maintain data on spreadsheets and word processing documents.
Record and disseminate meeting minutes for field meetings and qualitative project debriefs.
Assist with the check-in/check-out process for qualitative focus groups and IDI’s
Maintain files, create SOP documents for qualitative team processes, and disseminate sensitive materials to the appropriate areas.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree-seeking or Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, Market Research, or other Social Science or Business Field with research specialization is required for this role.
EXPERIENCE:
1+ Year: clerical, customer service, data entry, computer experience preferred. Qualitative field experience is a plus
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Candidates for this role must be able to multi-task, have strong organizational and documentation skills. This position requires strict adherence to protocols and guidelines, as well as attention to detail. Qualitative Research Specialist II’s must be able to read and type fluently in English as well as use the required technology, such as laptops and smart phones, to complete their reports. Qualitative Research Specialist II’s must consistently show interpersonal tact, discretion, and sensitivity – as well as be able to personally handle rejection and encourage team members who experience rejection during intercept.
