Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Summary: This position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Statewide Prosecution Unit in Orlando, Florida. This is a Victim Advocate position for the Office of Statewide Prosecution assisting prosecutors with victims of crimes. Excellent communications skills required. Frequent travel may be involved. Candidates with professional victim services experience preferred.

Pay: $45,000 - $50,000 Annually

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional or non-professional experience in administrative work, accounting, auditing, probation and parole, corrections, claims processing, claims or benefits eligibility determination, social or victim services.

  • A Master's degree in a related field can substitute for the required experience.

  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

    Candidates with professional victim services experience preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • LCSW and/or Masters degree a plus, but not required.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher

  • Data entry experience.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Background in working with diverse populations helpful.

  • Experience training and/or working with volunteers helpful

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • High level of initiative.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem solving capabilities and organizational skills required.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and direct the work of others.

  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within sexual violence/human trafficking preferred; but training will be provided.

    The Work You Will Do: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • This position works closely with assistant statewide prosecutors, law enforcement, and staff to identify victim needs and how best they can be met.

  • Responsible for providing information on victimization, victims' legal rights, the criminal justice process, and safety planning.

  • Helps victims complete assistance applications.

  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating victim correspondence, travel, and preparation for trial or other appearance as needed.

  • Responsible for assisting victims with short and long-term placement for victims of human trafficking including transportation to and from shelters and court.

  • Assists in locating resources including medical, drug, and mental health counseling assistance.

  • Participates in victim advocacy through attendance and public presentations at conferences, trainings, and other events designed to educate the public, law enforcement, prosecutors, and non-governmental organizations about resources and services available to victims of violent and non-violent crimes.

  • Collaborates with agency partners working with victims including crisis response and intervention before, during, and after law enforcement operations.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned or requested;

  • These duties will sometimes involve extended work hours and travel outside the work site.

  • Coordinate/Prepare/Conduct Trainings related to HT and/or DV to other units within the OAG as requested/required.
