As a Commercial Sales Manager, you will work on exciting and challenging opportunities in a highly motivated, cross-functional team! You will manage all commercial and financial topics throughout the whole sales and bid process and be responsible for producing sophisticated bids from a commercial point of view for our Grid Solutions projects!

A flawless collaboration between the Commercial Sales Manager, Bid Manager, and the Sales Manager is key for overall success.

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Review the customer requirements and take the lead on all commercial aspects such as bid-specific terms and conditions, tax and currency concepts, import duties, credit risk management, financial securities (letters of credit/bank guarantees/surties), terms of payments, cash flow analysis, and insurances, all the way to bid submission and post bid follow-ups.

  • Partner with technical sales and bid manager to develop a winning strategy.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant internal rules & guidelines including Limits of Authority (LoA), New Collaboration Model (NCM), FRG, tax, trade finance, or currency guidelines.

  • Take ownership in defining an efficient business model and contract structure (i.e. ZRG, NCM).

  • Closely involved with contract negotiations, such as project terms & conditions.

  • Lead commercial contract development and review for new customers, especially the data center area; and be a strategic partner to our technical sales team.

  • Actively drive relationship management with internal & external functions, e.g. management, finance, legal, insurance, taxes & customers.

  • In collaboration with the proposal team ensure the accuracy of the cost and review pricing calculation.

  • Prepare and present your bid during the Limits of Authority (LoA) according to the required level.

  • Assure bid and contract award are in compliance with accounting standards (i.e. IFRS, Siemens Energy Financial Reporting Guideline) to secure order intake and revenue recognition.

  • Participate & lead commercial project handover to the execution organization to ensure timely order booking and a smooth start of execution activities.

  • Develop and promote opportunities that contribute to the business’s success.

What You Bring (requirements)

  • A BS/BA degree or higher degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.

  • 8+ years of experience working in commercial sales or commercial project management roles, ideally sophisticated project business.

  • Experience in contract negotiations, project management financial project controlling, or cost estimations.

  • Strong writing, presentation & meeting facilitation skills. Excellent communication skills; able to clearly and concisely express information & requirements through writing, speaking, and presentations.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Resilience and positive attitude when working under pressure, due to multiple bid assignments with varying degrees of complexity and deadlines.

  • Worked in international projects and with intercultural and cross-functional teams.

  • The required amount of travel in this role is around 10%-15%.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
