Position Overview:

  • For our regional North America Technology organization in the SGRE Service business unit, we are currently seeking highly talented and motivated candidates for a Level 1 Engineering Specialist position who will be responsible for first level support-related cases, act as an interface with internal & external customer, aiming to resolve technical requests and identify the requests to be escalated to Level 2 support and Global technical teams.

  • The goal of the service is to impact positively on the operation and maintenance tasks by providing quick response and efficient and effective solutions. This objective is achieved by reducing the time that internal and external customers are waiting for a response (engineering statement, instruction, containment actions…) and by minimizing the resolution time related to an incident. For some cases, it is expected to provide on-site troubleshooting services, when needed.

  • In addition, under certain scenarios, level 1 support will be serving as a focal point between local team and/or Global specialists/teams.

  • Provide technical support with troubleshooting of geared and direct drive wind turbine to internal & external customer through remote data analysis.

  • Guide site technicians through nondestructive testing and troubleshooting through the telephone, video calls, or augmented reality technology.

  • Support Operations team with implementation of retrofit and new solutions aiming at improving wind turbine’s performance.

  • Provide documentation, spare parts (specifications and finding alternate parts) and tooling related services to both internal & external customer, to minimize turbine downtime.

  • Support in root cause analysis service.

  • Demonstrate an active safety leadership role. Ensure correct reporting of incidents and accidents, near misses and unsafe acts and conditions.

  • Relocation will not be offered for this role.

    Responsibilities:

  • Handle the technical support task of day-to-day work, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical and software issues of wind turbines.

  • Coordinate local resources and that of headquarters to shorten the solutions’ lead time.

  • Ensure smooth execution of technical support contract signed with external customer.

  • Satisfy external customer with excellent and value-added service.

  • Protection of intellectual property in the course of knowledge delivery to external customer.

  • Ensure safety and environmental requirements are complied.

  • Ensure response time of less than 48 hours and case completion/escalation within 5 days.

  • Support commissioning team with all technical issues during the commissioning and handover of turbines from Onshore Projects to Service Operations phase.

  • Help documentation team with creating draft documents by providing technical/quality/safety inputs.

  • Support Quality, Environment, Health and Safety team conducting Rapid Risk Assessments, create and disseminate quality documents and bulletins as needed.

  • Assess and quantify failure trends and material consumption with the use of data analytics.

  • On call services after hours and on the weekend - limited scope.

    Required Knowledge, Education, Experience and Skills  :

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or associate engineering degree with hands on field experience (3+ years) in wind turbine troubleshooting or diploma with hands on experience (5+) in wind turbine trouble shooting.

  • Must have solid experience with using several SW (SCADA, Turbine Controller) interface tools used to diagnose faults & performance issues.

  • Proficient knowledge of electrical/hydraulic diagrams, documentation and to be able to explain / communicate in a clear manner to site or to other departments in the company. Will be valued positively to be an expert on converter diagnosis.

  • Ability to work with a diverse and international work environment.

  • A team-player, confident to share new ideas and help all departments and colleagues

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to convey knowledge clearly and understandably to internal or external contacts

  • Good analytical and diagnostic skills.

  • Should be extremely organized with respect to documentation.

  • Requires great verbal and written communication skills, customer service driven, professional and positive attitude all the time.

  • Conscientious and independent way of working.

  • Drive to expand expertise and improve processes.

  • Must have very good knowledge of English (C1 or C2). Preferably bilingual (Spanish).

  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time and work hands on in the turbine, both domestically and internationally.

  • Ability to work at heights.

  • 10% Travel is required.
