AVT Simulation Electrical Engineer Level 2/Level 3 - Security Clearance Eligibility Required in Orlando, Florida

Job Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining electrical systems and components. The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing electrical devices and testing them for safety and efficiency, provide technical leadership, mentorship, and expertise to a team of engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. Experienced and knowledgeable in electrical engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices and is essential in driving innovation and achieving project goals. Duties include managing the manufacturing process for new electrical equipment, using design software to produce schematics, overseeing the installation and integration process of their designs. Reports to program and engineering management. Travel Requirement: 10%

Electrical Engineer Level 2: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from accredited college or university.  Five (5) to Ten (10) years of job-related experience. 

Electrical Engineer Level 3: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from accredited college or university  Eleven (11) to Sixteen (16) years of job-related experience.  Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electrical systems, circuits, and components for various projects. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations while adhering to project requirements and timelines.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, assisting in their professional development and fostering a collaborative work environment. Offer expert advice on complex electrical engineering issues and problem-solving strategies.

  • Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to define project requirements, establish timelines, and manage project deliverables. Conduct regular project status meetings, monitor progress, and address any technical challenges that may arise. Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps. Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations. Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials. Authoring and collaborating on the development of contractually deliverable documents. Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation. Working with a variety of technicians.

  • Testing and Evaluation: Plan and oversee the testing, verification, and validation of electrical systems and components. Conduct thorough analyses of test results and provide recommendations for improvement or optimization. Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and design reviews. Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of electrical designs, test procedures, and project progress. Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications. Review designs, drawings, and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability. Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.

  • Research and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging practices in electrical engineering. Identify opportunities for innovation and propose new ideas to improve existing processes, systems, and products.

  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all electrical designs and systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures throughout the design and development process. Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Proven experience (typically 6+ years) in electrical engineering, with a focus on designing and developing electrical systems and components.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, theories, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in using electrical design and analysis software, such as AutoCAD.

  • Strong understanding of industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEC) related to electrical systems and safety.

  • Experience in project management, including defining requirements, establishing timelines, and managing resources.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex electrical issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and techniques related to electrical components and systems.

  • Proficient in design and calculation software.

  • Knowledge of applicable codes related to electrical engineering.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee may occasionally lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.   Equipment/Software/Tools Used
