Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Cyber Systems Engineer/Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to help develop, test, secure, operate, and maintain information systems. The ideal candidate demonstrates a broad skillset that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities listed below. You should have experience collaborating within and across teams to accomplish goals. You are committed to ethics, integrity, and innovation while challenging traditional ways of doing business. You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable engaging with internal and external customers.

This requisition is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a Level 2 or Level 3:

Basic Qualifications :

  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 2 years of experience / 0 years with Masters

  • Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience / 3 years with Masters

  • Proven hands-on experience deploying and administering RedHat Enterprise Linux systems

  • Experience authoring or troubleshooting SELinux labels and contexts

  • Experience tailoring and implementing NIST800-53 controls

  • Basic experience programming in Java

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Must have a DoD 8140 IAT level II certification (Security+ CE)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Linux+ Certification

  • RHCSA Cert

  • CISSP

  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, Ethernet networking, ports, and protocols

  • Experience authoring and tailoring SELinux policies

  • Strong experience programming in Java

  • Experience performing software security audits using Fortify SCA / SonarQube, Snyk, or Coverity

  • Experience with DevSecOps

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions

  • Experience troubleshooting Linux auditing

  • Experience working with Splunk or Elastic Dashboards

Salary Range: $82,900 - $124,300

Salary Range 2: $101,900 - $152,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
