AdventHealth AHMG Pediatric Hepatology and Liver Transplant APRN or PA in Orlando, Florida

Our growing Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplant is the busiest Pediatric Liver Transplant program in the state. It is also currently the 5th busiest in the nation. The Pediatric advanced hepatology and liver transplant division is part of a full-service program including three hepatologists (with plans to continue to grow), world class liver transplant surgeons, a robust intensive care group, and top pediatric anesthesiology and surgical results rivaling any program in the country.

Overview:

The APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of injuries or illness of patients with hepatology related conditions in the out-patient setting.

  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

  • Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.

  • Follow and manage Peds Liver Transplant Patients Inpatient/outpatient.

  • Follow other liver related diagnoses (inpatient/outpatient) including: AIH, biliary atresia, neonatal cholestasis, MASH, Alagille syndrome, Wilson’s, hepatoblastoma/HCC, liver lesions, viral hepatitis, hyperimmune liver failures, PFIC, bile acid synthetic disorders.

  • Follow portal hypertension/portosytemic shunt patients, pre-surgical evaluation (inpatent/outpatient), Arranging serial EGD.

  • Post-surgical management (inpatient/outpatient).

  • Collaborating with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

  • Always displaying a caring and professional attitude as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public. Documenting in a timely and thorough manner.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.

  • Strong communication skills & Strong medical decision-making skills.

Schedule Details:

  • Schedule Details: Hybrid Inpatient and Outpatient rotation, 7am-4pm approx. (but this can be dependent on census and patient load)

  • Hospitals covered: AH Children’s and outreach clinics

  • Call Coverage: Varies month to month

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in nursing

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN license

  • Certification by ANCC or other nationally recognized certification organization

  • BLS & ACLS
