Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Previous experience providing maintenance and repair of transportation vehicles.
Previous experience maintaining/repairing school buses and diesel engines preferred.
Pervious experience with vehicle bodywork a plus.
Clean driving record.
Current Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement, no Air Brake Restriction and School Bus Endorsement preferred or must be obtained within one year.
Class 7 State Inspection license preferred or must be obtained within one year.
Must be flexible.
*Description: * The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. School Bus Mechanic will work to ensure all district vehicles are operating safely. SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.
The following responsibilities are expected from the position but are not limited to:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain school buses, trucks, mowers, vans, and other equipment as assigned.
Maintain an adequate supply of all inventory and supplies.
Provide emergency road service to district vehicles.
Suggest changes to improve efficiency, service, safety and costs.
Assist drivers when required to maintain proper fuel supply, engine oil level, transmission oil level, engine coolant level, and proper air pressure in tires.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
Transport school students as necessary when staffing needs demand.
Terms of employment:
Full-time position, 8 hours per day, 12 months. Position following the School District calendar. Position part of the Support Staff Bargaining Unit.
