New Era LLC Sewing Machine Operator in Opa-Locka, Florida
The role of Sewing Machine Operator is to operate standard or special industrial sewing machines to perform multiple operating in joining parts of fabricated articles. The operations performed are repetitive, and a steady pace, accuracy and quality are the principle requirements. The sewing machine operator is responsible for the quality of caps sewed according to company and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
Sew fabric and other raw material components together utilizing multiple and various sewing machines and other equipment utilized to construct baseball caps
Set up machine with appropriate raw materials (i.e. thread, taping, bobbins, etc.)to perform a specific operation
Position parts to be joined under pressure foot and needle and lowers presser foot
Start, stop, and control speed of machine, using foot pedal
Guide parts under needle, using fingers and hands, and following edges, seams, guides on machine bed, or markings on part
Observe stitching to detect defects and notifies supervisor when defects are caused by machine malfunction
Select sewing parts and supplies, such as taping, haircloth, fronts, backs, peak boards, eyelets, sizing, labels and other supplies according to specifications
Oil machines, change needles, and secure attachments to machine as needed.
Count and stack parts
Keep all sensitive matters confidential
Other duties as assigned including cross-training on various sewing machines and equipment as required.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Ability to stand or sit for scheduled work hours
Able to work overtime, including Saturdays if needed
Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions (appropriate footwear)
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
Education and Experience
- Experience sewing in a manufacturing environment preferred.

The salary range for this posted position is $15/hr - $16/hr (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Opa Locka, Florida . Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
