ManpowerGroup Building Maintenance Engineer or Technician in Ontario, California

Job Title: Operating Engineer

The Operating Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment across multiple systems. Candidates should demonstrate technical expertise in one key craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations) while being versatile enough to handle tasks in other areas to complete daily and weekly assignments effectively.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment at the client site.

  • Minimize disruption and ensure thorough clean-up after completing tasks in client spaces.

  • Perform maintenance and repair of Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure building systems meet applicable standards.

  • Oversee facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance with technical proficiency.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies, and source materials needed for facility upkeep.

  • Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operations.

  • Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to keep HVAC systems running at peak performance.

  • Follow departmental policies for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

  • Review monthly client service requests to identify and resolve recurring operational issues.

  • Regularly evaluate vendors and suppliers for quality and competitive pricing.

  • Prepare and submit purchase order requests and verify deliveries for accuracy in quantity, pricing, and description.

  • Conduct periodic tool and instrument inventory checks.

  • Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by external contractors.

  • Assist with event setup/teardown activities, including electrical and audiovisual tasks, and coordinate with security as needed.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

  • Completion of a vocational/trade program preferred.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.

  • Universal Technician Certification for CFCs (or within 90 days of employment).

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot system operations and take corrective action when necessary.

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Availability for on-call work.

  • Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and access equipment components as needed
