New York State Civil Service Labor Services Representative Trainee in Oneonta, New York

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). <p> Minimum Qualifications:<br>

Standard Duties:<br> As a Labor Services Representative/ Trainee in the Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions, you would assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations.<br>

You would interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences. You would identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers.<br>

Intensive job placement assistance is key through developing skills-based resume, successful employment interview coaching, providing continuing job leads, conducting employment referrals and advocating for the job seeker when applying for a job. <br> You would provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor. <p> Additional Comments/Notes regarding position and salary: <br> Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above. <br> If you are a current NYS employee and have questions regarding salary, please contact the Business Services Center (BSC): 518-457-4272, BSCHR@ogs.ny.gov. <br> Certain positions may allow telecommuting up to 2 days per week dependent on operational needs.
