Assistant Residential (Home) Manager

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Demonstrate the mission of The Arc Otsego in the performance of duties, focusing activities to follow Person Centered Planning and supporting outcomes of each person living in the home.

  • Assist and support in the management and direction of all activities within the home.

  • Oversight and supervision duties of all Direct Support Professionals assigned to the home required.

  • Oversee the implement all agency policy and procedures.

  • Complete approved Quality Assurance checks/ PSR's as assigned to ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and agency standards.

  • Ensure staff training is complete, up to date and meets OPWDD and agency standards and guidelines. Ensure all staff training records are current in our training record keeping program.

  • Review and ensure daily data and documentation standards are met. Provide ongoing training to staff on daily data documentation as needed.

  • Work with the Home Manager to ensure staffing schedules are completed and adequate, and trained staff are assigned to each shift.

  • Assures effective and thorough communication, written and verbal with individuals, families, staff, and administration.

  • Advocate for and actively participate in the ongoing protection of individuals' rights and safety by monitoring staff interactions, the individual's physical appearance, the safe implementation of supports for each person and a safe home environment.

  • Provide proactive crisis intervention and prevention services including proper reporting. Reports all suspect situations to supervisor and other managers/administrators as per agency Policy and Procedures.

  • Provide ongoing training to staff, as assigned by supervisor, and identify areas of training needs for staff. Report needs and concerns to supervisor and other appropriate management staff.

  • Ensure assignment and completion of daily shift duties for all Direct Support Professionals.

  • Provide constructive follow up, feedback and training to all staff for their ongoing development.

  • Ensure all assigned duties for the position of Assistant Home manager are completed.

  • Ensure all individual finances are secure, balanced and managed as per policy and procedures.

  • Ensure adequate supplies are in stock, including individual personal supplies, food items, medications, and all other household supply items.

  • Complete other assignments and projects as assigned by supervisor.

III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise each Direct Support Professional assigned to the home, with regular communication and contact with program supervisors.

  • Monitor daily services and operations and keep Home Manager and Program Director abreast of identified issues.

  • Oversee the Home operations in the absence of the Home Manager.

  • Participate in the On Call schedule assigned to the home, and as assigned by supervisors.

  • This position is targeted for ongoing professional development for advancement and promotion to a Home Manager or other Management position, pending successful discharge of duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a High School Diploma with one year of experience providing supports and services to persons with developmental disabilities. Supervisory experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret information from professionals in various disciplines. Ability to effectively write reports and various forms of documentation. Ability to communicate information to individuals served, families, support system and other providers, professionals, co-workers and supervisors.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical, abstract, and multi-variable problems. Ability to relate knowledge to various individual situations. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
