Fiserv Senior Technical Production Control in Omaha, Nebraska

What does a great Senior Technical Production Control do?

This role is part of the Fiserv Technology Services group and supports several different Credit Risk, Compliance & Merchant Fraud applications in production environment.


  • This role is part of a highly technical support team that work covering production application support for a critical part of Fiserv.

  • The role is considered Level-II and typically works with Business users/Credit Analysts, Level-III Application development team and the Level-I operations team.

  • Responsibilities include application-wide troubleshooting, issue fixes, job/script reruns, and implementation/validation of production changes.

  • Team works on a 24/7 On-call rotation with flexible week offs.

  • Thorough review of applications to debug performance, capacity, data issues and suggest fixes.

  • Perform analysis on application logs to determine impact and recommend steps for a permanent fix.

  • Raise incidents, problem tickets, service requests in ServicePoint.

  • Follow-up with source teams to get source feeds/data.

  • Need to drive major/priority incidents & work with Global Command Center team to address & fix the production incidents.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration :

  • 7+ years technical experience in Production Application support or Software Development (Unix/Oracle/Windows applications).

  • 3+ years of experience in Oracle PL/I with Unix.

  • 2+ years of experience in running DB (Oracle/DB2/SQL management studio) queries.

  • Exposure in executing Unix commands, setup Cronjobs, create/run Unix shell scripts, log search & find corresponding scripts & execution

  • Exposure to execution & Job scheduling & troubleshooting.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to Merchant Representatives, Incident Managers, Product Owners, and various other Fiserv teams.

  • Flexibility to work an on-call schedule on a weekly rotation basis with flexible shifts & time-off.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience managing Unix or Oracle PL/I applications support or development.

  • Strong PC/Windows and or Unix/AIX experience along with a technical aptitude is needed. Must be able to handle issues that arise with minimal oversight or guidelines and work under pressure.

  • Exposure with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppD, CA7 scheduler, Putty, Winscp, Toad/Oracle SQL developer, SQL management studio, Spufi/QMF, websphere/weblogic; Autocm.

  • A meticulous mindset with strong attention to detail, and adaptability for a fast-paced environment.

  • Banking background and familiarity/experience with banking operations is preferred.

  • Exposure to Actimize tool is an added advantage.
