Position Overview

The role of Product Owner, Equipment involves strategic platform planning and regular technical project execution within the Equipment Team’s software and platform portfolio. Serving as the voice of the customer, this role prioritizes the platform backlog by representing internal stakeholders and aligning with the Equipment team’s objectives. The Product Manager analyzes business needs, defines requirements, explores solutions, and ensures successful feature launches. Key responsibilities include continuously solving customer problems and prioritizing initiatives that drive significant business outcomes. The ideal candidate will facilitate discussions, lead task execution, and champion best-in-class solutions supported by robust governance and strategy. Reporting to the Equipment Product Team’s leadership, the Product Manager/Owner is a member of the Equipment Product Team and engages with Kiewit Technology Group (KTG), Kiewit Data Services (KDS), Kiewit project and field personnel, and Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) to ensure unified customer experiences across the enterprise.

Location

This position is based at our new office; 12312 Port Grace Blvd, La Vista, NE 68128. The work schedule is onsite M - F.

Responsibilities

Business Support

•Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Equipment Fleet Management and Maintenance platforms and associated tools and data

•Address business inquiries and provide direct user support when required

•Facilitate knowledge transfer to technical support teams using clear and concise requirements

•Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to develop long-term platform strategies, encompassing cost, technology, and lifecycle roadmaps

•Support technology budgeting and estimation processes

•Draft clear and concise business requirements to guide technical execution

•Mentor team members and foster leadership opportunities

•Prioritize tasks based on business impact and outcomes

•Utilize data analytics to illustrate business challenges and successes

•Collaborate with KES, KTG, and KDS to build compelling business cases to successfully leverage fleet data

•Develop products that maximize efficiency with minimal overhead

Communication

•Engage stakeholders and users to build consensus and ensure clear communications

•Participate in product and project meetings, advocating for stakeholder and user needs

•Articulate the business value of features and deliverables to the team

•Lead the creation of end-user training materials and product marketing communications

•Act as a spokesperson for Equipment products in internal meetings and events

•Foster cross-functional collaboration to align decisions with portfolio strategy

•Effectively communicate up, down, and across the different levels of KTG and business leadership

Product and Backlog Management

•Manage the ideation process and idea collection portals for multiple products

•Define the vision, direction, and growth opportunities for products in collaboration with the Product Team

•Oversee management of data needs from software applications and enterprise IoT devices, through middleware to destination(s)

•Prioritize justification and release of new features in our tool set

•Refine features and user stories, prioritize backlog items, and accept completed work

•Coordinate with business units and delivery teams to test and evaluate new applications and features

•Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure deliverables meet commitments

•Maintain a balanced backlog to support continuous product development

•Evaluate product progress regularly and demonstrate completed work at the end of each iteration

Qualifications

•Proven track record of using data and tools to deliver insights and drive business outcomes

•Minimum of 5 years experience as a Product Owner in a technology driven environment

•Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences

•Skilled in negotiation and managing critical conversations with customers and stakeholders

•Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and mitigating risks

•Capacity to communicate progress and risks clearly to leadership

•Initiative to continuously learn and develop professionally

•Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality

•Collaborative mindset and willingness to work with mentors and cross-functional teams

•Commitment to continuous improvement across all facets of Equipment reporting

•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree

PREFERRED

•Experience in Data Analysis, Middleware, Data Pipelines, and Data Visualization tools

•Familiarity with SAP or Snowflake

•Previous team lead or Supervisor experience
