A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Product Manager at Valley focuses on developing and enhancing products, setting long-term goals, and leading product strategy and execution by incorporating feedback from various stakeholders. This role oversees coordination and leadership of hardware product lines within Valmont Irrigation's portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives. Responsibilities include market analysis, competitive response formulation, and stewardship of product lines. Additionally, the Product Manager leads cross-functional teams, collaborates with Sales and Engineering Departments, represents customer needs to senior leadership, and maintains expertise on competitor products worldwide.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports directly to the VP of Hardware Products, with no direct or indirect reports.

  • Requires up to 20% travel, both internationally and domestically, with overnight stays.

  • Proficient in creating and executing business plans, delivering financial results, and defining market requirements.

  • Establishes strong working relationships with engineering, sales, and operations.

  • Demonstrates effective leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and passion for excellence.

  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Responsible for strategic direction, growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction of designated technology hardware product line.

  • Leads cross-functional development teams to execute product launch programs on time.

  • Works closely with Sales, Engineering, and Marketing to position products as market leaders.

  • Defines market requirements for current and planned new equipment, provides competitive information, and analyzes marketing trends.

  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies in the irrigation marketplace and recommends product line extensions or eliminations.

  • Assists in forecasting technology hardware sales and provides global product management support.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate::

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Associates Degree in Business with 8+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Previous Product Management experience with demonstrated knowledge of the product management process.

  • Experience in defining product requirements through market research.

  • Demonstrated success in executing product development and launches.

  • Understanding of current technologies used in agricultural product lines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture Business, Engineering, or related field

  • Advanced Degree (MBA, MA, ME)

  • Product Management experience with hard goods or agricultural products

  • Familiarity with dealer distribution channel model (2-step distribution)

  • International product management experience
