Union Pacific Streamliner Federal Credit Union (UPSFCU), founded in 1937, is a growing financial cooperative based in Omaha, Nebraska and serves the financial needs of the employee of Union Pacific Corporation, its subsidiaries, contractors and strategic partners and their families.
UPSFCU is seeking a dynamic and experienced team member to join our credit union to serve as Member Lending Consultant. The successful candidate will serve as a loan and credit approver by meeting with applicants and completing all information and documentation, while working within compliance requirements. In addition, the Member Lending Consultant will actively promote all Credit Union services to members and potential members.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for interviewing applicants, gathering information, and completing all loan documentation required on consumer loans; 2nd Mortgage Loans; HELOC Loans; and credit cards. Accountable for approving and/or turning down loans in a timely manner, in accordance with established Credit Union policy, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Responsible for providing information on all Credit Union financial products and services. Actively promotes all Credit Union services to members and potential members. Develops and apply an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws and operational procedures.
Work in conjunction with fellow Lending Department employees as well as all of the CU Staff, members, committee members and auditors/examiners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain good relations with members and potential members, other employees, volunteers and others visiting or phoning the Credit Union.
Maintain confidentiality regarding members’ information and Credit Union practices and procedures.
Interview loan applicants, process loan information, prepare necessary documents and complete loan closings and disbursals according to Credit Union policies and procedures.
Secure all documents and signatures to protect any liens, notes and security agreements
Approve loan applications according to the policies and limits set by the Board of Directors and the rules and regulations.
Explain reasons for denial and explore options for members when loans are denied.
Complete required loan officer reports.
Handle, to a satisfactory conclusion, member inquiries on accounts, statements, transaction history, Credit Union products and services, etc., as needed.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of Credit Union policy and be capable of discussing all loan alternatives and financial products and services with members.
Responsible for collection activities as assigned by Member Lending Manager.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of product pricing (interest rates, dividend rates, fees) and be able to discuss these with members.
Implement new financial products and services in accordance with management direction, Credit Union policies and procedures and legal requirements.
Assist in a relief or temporary capacity in any area as directed by the President or Member Lending Manager.
All other duties as assigned.
Recommend ideas to improve policies, products, services and procedures to the Member Lending Manager.
Contribute to marketing and promotional projects.

Associate Degree preferred.
2-5 years lending experience.
Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing members and projecting a positive image as representative for the Credit Union.
Ability to coordinate and incorporate relevant information and data into the clear written communication.
Solid customer service attitude, strong desire for knowledge, adaptability and flexibility in a changing work environment.
Work requires ability to acquire a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s electronic data processing system. Work also requires ability to follow rules and procedures precisely and ability to perform duties in an ethical and professional manner.
Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
Regular and predictable attendance is a required essential function of the job.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of industry-specific software, industry-specific systems and other web-based software programs, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
