Position Summary:
Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: Denver CO, Omaha NE, Berkeley NJ & Frisco, TX
Contract role 12+ Months with possible extension
Description
What does a great Application Analyst/COBOL Developer do?
Mainframe Developers are responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of mainframe computer systems and software applications.
These professionals use their strong programming skills and knowledge of mainframe systems to ensure optimal system performance.
Review designs and or code for testing, and debugging mainframe software applications
Modifying mainframe applications using programming languages like COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. Performing performance tuning of mainframe systems and applications and conducts support activities with remote team members.
Ability to problem solve, code, test, and deploy application fixes in a fast-paced SLA driven environment.
Codes and tests high priority and critical changes utilizing COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
Meets with project managers to provide daily or weekly project statuses.
Skills, Experience, and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
• Ten+ years of software development engineering experience.
• Working knowledge in an IBM Mainframe environment – proficient with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and working with IBM Mainframe ZOS toolsets.
• Strong knowledge of the following: DB2, IDCAMS, SyncSort; File-Master; File Transmission (FTP/NDM); The following would be nice to have: REXX; Endevor; Clarity; Jira
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in technical design writing and documentation.
• Proficient with usage of MS office – Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint
• This role is not eligible to be performed outside the contiguous 48 United States.
