Jewish Community Center Aquatics Director in Omaha, Nebraska

Principal Responsibilities: The Jewish Community Center of Omaha (JCC) is hiring! Come make a difference in the health and wellness of our community's members by joining our team. Primary Purpose of Job The Aquatics Director is responsible for making sure that all operations and programming of the Indoor and Outdoor pools are implemented in an efficient and professional manner at the highest standards. This includes the physical condition of the pools, all associated facilities and programs taking place in the pools, as well as the scheduling and training of all staff related to life guarding, instructors, managing and customer service functions. We currently employ two full-time Assistant Aquatic Directors, a Lead Programming Director, and in-house marketing staff. Curriculum for swim lessons is established, as well as Head Lifeguards and summer staff. Hours: Full-Time, hours vary throughout the year depending on season About our Aquatics Department Our outdoor and indoor aquatic facilities provide year-round accessibility with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. We offer swim lessons, water fitness programs, and American Red Cross Training. Family Leisure and Indoor Lap Pool: * 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool * Leisure Pool with Zero-depth Entry & Splash Features * 15' Water Slide * Lazy River * Water Therapy Vortex Family Leisure and Outdoor Lap Pool: * 6-lane, 25-meter lap pool * Aqua Play Unit and Dump Bucket* * Splash Pad * Leisure Pool and Zero-depth entry area* * Lazy River* * 15' Water Slide* * Aqua Climbing Wall / Diving Board *Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * Lifeguard Certification (including First Aid) * CPR, AED Certified * Water Safety Instructor preferred * Nebraska Pool Operator's License preferred Duties and Responsibilities * Recruit/hire/supervise/schedule/train/evaluate all lifeguard staff (25 regular and up to 75 seasonal employees) * Participate in the JCC safety committee. * Work closely under the supervision of the Executive Director to ensure year-round programs are operating at the highest levels. * Work closely with the maintenance staff to implement all necessary tasks related to maintenance and preventative maintenance; facility planning and enhancement and all other necessary functions to make our indoor and outdoor pools are the best facility in the Omaha area. * Hire and supervise outstanding staff necessary to make sure all pools have the highest quality lifeguarding, instructors and customer service for members during the entire time that the pools are open. The JCC pools should be recognized as the safest and friendliest facility in Omaha. * Provide outstanding year-round training for all lifeguards. This includes implementing quality checks, conducting ongoing audits, and regularly scheduled in service trainings to ensure every guard is alert, attentive, and well trained for all the tasks he/she is responsible for performing on a daily basis, as well as in emergency situations. * To provide hands-on, direct supervision of all aquatic programs on a daily basis. This includes participating in classes taught by other JCC Aquatic Instructors, observing classes, and meeting with aquatic instructors as needed to provide guidance and to receive input. * Supervise and coach the JCC Summer Swim Team and year-round programs. * Responsible for developing and monitoring the Aquatics Operation and Programming budgets in close communication with the Executive Director. He/she is responsible for timely and accurate preparation and entry of all aquatics payroll. * Implement a comprehensive year-round program of group lessons, private lessons, and group exercise classes. He/she should initiate on a regular basis, proposals that will improve the facilities and the aquatic programs offered at the JCC, such as special family days/events, 4th of July and Labor Day parties, swim lessons, etc. He/she should be fully aware of the best and newest trends in the field and research what other facilities currently offer in their aquatic programs. * Provide hands-on instruction of programs wherever possible. This may include: water exercise, group swim lessons, and ELC, Camp or Friedel lessons. He/she should be on call to sub for classes whenever possible. * He/she must work closely with the ELC, Camp, and Friedel staff to administer a high-quality swim lesson component to their respective programs. * Work closely with the Registration Associate and Member Services to make sure all fees are collected in an appropriate manner and that effective systems of control are implemented for all programs. * Act as a liaison to all internal and external groups using the pools. This includes accurate scheduling, supervision, billing when appropriate, and all follow up tasks to make sure all groups that are using the pool have clear expectations and a positive experience. * Ensure Aquatic program materials and supplies are well maintained, stored, cleaned, and organized every day. * The Aquatics Director must be willing to be very flexible in his/her time management and must be prepared to spend whatever time necessary on site to make sure that all pools are operating at the highest levels. He/she must be prepared to personally be on site if other staff is not available or are not fulfilling their respective functions at the appropriate level. * Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. * Promote programs among members and the public. * All other duties as assigned. # Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * Lifeguard Certification (including First Aid) * CPR, AED Certified * Water Safety Instructor preferred * Nebraska Pool Operator's License preferred # Salary: 45,000 - 55,000 # Agency Information: The Jewish Community Center has been a big part of Omaha for more than eight decades!
