Secure Infrastructure Specialist(IT Security – Journey)Who is WaTech?Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) operates the state's core technology infrastructure, the central network and data center, and provides support for several enterprise applications. It's also where you'll find the State Office of the Chief Information Officer and the Office of Cyber Security.The Office of Cybersecurity (OCS) provides strategic direction for cybersecurity and protects our state government network from growing cyber threats. OCS, and its team of cybersecurity experts, detect, block and respond to cyberattacks on state networks and help prevent and mitigate threats before they can cause significant damage. OCS conducts centralized monitoring and analysis of all security alert systems and provides awareness of security events which may compromise delivery of critical online services.About the position:As a Secure Infrastructure Engineer, this position is one of the technical security specialists that support the Internal WaTech Information Security Team with a focus on Security Services using the F5 platform, including Reverse Proxy, Forward Proxy, Application Delivery, Security, and Traffic Management and SSL VPN. This position provides their expertise in complex analysis and troubleshooting these complex F5 based platforms and applications. This position also provides support for our multi-factor authentication system used to provide access control for these Security Services.During the current Covid-19 pandemic, teleworking is approved and encouraged to ensure the health and safety of our staff and their families. As a critical role, there may be times this position’s presence is necessary on site.Some of what you’ll do:Perform complex analysis and troubleshooting of Linux or Windows operating systems, reverse proxy, forward proxy, and SSL VPN.Utilize appropriate tools and commands to isolate and resolve issues with firewalls and networks.Provides technical expertise in the securing of application data as it securely traverses agency networks. Monitors data logging of agency environments of over 200 web applications.Utilize security services including TLS encryption, digital certificates, and forward/reverse proxy. Analyze hardware requirements and alternatives related to acquisitions and recommendations.Implement security policies compliant with statewide security guidelines and best practices for Secure Infrastructure Services.Execute detailed project plans and timelines for major security technology initiatives that have statewide security impact.Conduct research, evaluate, recommend, and implement hardware and software supporting new security technologies and services.Provide maintenance of the F5 based Security Services core systems necessary to support the infrastructure.Full system management of the security servers, including software code updates, software patch installs, and firmware upgrades.Requirements of the Position:A bachelor’s degree in information technology or related programAND4 years of hands-on experience administrating, troubleshooting, analyzing, shared security infrastructure, including proxy servers, denial of service protection, intrusion detection & prevention, and authentication systems.OR;A combination of formal training such an associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited vocational training program in Information Technology and/or additional years of professional experience may substitute for th
