Hunt Forest Products Maintenance Tech in Olla, Louisiana

The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and operation, of all machinery, building and grounds at Hunt Forest Products, LLC., Olla, Louisiana.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • Installation, rebuilding, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of all production equipment

  • Maintain and repair pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, lubricate, and perform routine preventative maintenance work on all machinery within the mill environment

  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up, and repair of equipment and machinery

  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions

  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures in the inspection, repair, and/or replacement of items

  • Perform corrective maintenance per the current maintenance program

  • Assist mechanics and electricians when necessary

  • Participate in shop clean up duties

  • Perform all additional duties assigned by supervisor

  • Utilize knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings

  • Commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Be mechanically inclined.

  • Complete or be engaged in welding.

  • Must be familiar with lockout procedures of machinery

  • Strong understanding of production flow and product quality

  • Strong technical knowledge related to planer operation, including set-up and maintenance.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and lead others

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent minimum; higher education and/or certifications preferred.

  • Mechanically inclined a benefit

  • Must possess a basic knowledge of welding and hydraulics

  • Previous experience with equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment (5+ years).

  • Inside Conditions: Extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), humidity, working in tight areas, and noise (from production machinery).

  • This position warrants continuous walking, twisting, bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work in an environment that is dusty, dirty, oily, noisy, hot, and humid.
