HealthPartners Certified Medical Assistant in Olivia, Minnesota

ABOUT THE JOB The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the overall flow of patient care. This position assists Clinicians with patient care, as well as performing miscellaneous clinic duties in connection with referrals, appointments, ordering medical supplies, etc. Responsibilities: Follows provider's orders to ensure complete and accurate information is given to patients. Collects and processes specimens and prepares and administers medications. Rooms patients and performs pre-visit checks (vital signs, weight, etc.). Sets up for procedures and assists provider as needed during procedure. Ensures exam/immunization/procedure rooms are stocked and ready to use each day. Ensures all policies, procedures, practice standards and the Care Model Process are followed and used. Actively and accurately utilizes the pre-visit planning process. Versatility in knowledge, skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Demonstrates willingness and flexibility to assist others as needs arise or opportunities exist. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the in-basket process (e.g. refills, results), using appropriate routing and flagging. Communicates with patients professionally and in a timely fashion. Ensures proper and prompt documentation of patient interactions and calls. Demonstrates positive verbal communication and listening skills with providers, patients and peers. Patients and their records are handled in a private and confidential manner per OHC policy. When working at satellite clinics, displays the ability to learn and perform basic hematology, lab QC, phlebotomy and lab specimen preparation and other lab functions as directed. Other duties as assigned. No leader responsibilities ABOUT YOU Completion of an accredited medical assistant program (required) CPR certification (required) Current Medical Assistant certification (required) Drug Screen Certification (or willing to obtain within 1 year of employment) X-ray operator's license (preferred) Experience in clinic setting (preferred) Able to work with patients, families, providers, and all clinic and hospital staff (required) Able to maintain focus through frequent interruptions and constant interaction with others (required) Able to remain calm and composed with patients, staff, providers, and all phone contacts (required) Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, and peers (required) Able to communicate effectively in written and oral forms (required) Basic computer skills (required) ABOUT OLIVIA HOSPITAL & CLINIC Located in west central Minnesota, Olivia Hospital & Clinic is one of the leading employers in Renville County.
