Job Summary:

Plans and manages the clinical quality at assigned region in partnership with the system quality and patient safety team. Collaborates with regional and system leaders to build an integrated quality program in alignment with organizational priorities. Works collaboratively with continuous improvement (CI) leaders to ensure the organization’s operating model is utilized to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and high reliability. Identifies opportunities that impede attainment of clinical outcomes with analysis and evaluation of clinical data as it relates to clinical outcomes and resource utilization. Works collaboratively to prepare and disseminate reports to appropriate committees, leaders, and corporate stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and oversees progress of system-wide quality activities and resources.

  • Ensures that system and regional best practices and initiatives are identified, reviewed, and implemented. Maintains awareness and knowledge of best practice strategies and disseminating information to relevant groups.

  • Develops and implements strategies, systems, policies, and procedures to assess and improve quality across the continuum, for all populations served by the organization.

  • Leads a team of quality specialists aligned with system clinical programs to support data analysis, development of best practice guidelines and process improvement. Works collaboratively with Continuous Improvement (CI) to help lead clinical quality improvement initiatives, providing assessment of opportunities for improvement and identifying strategies to achieve strategic goals.

  • Presents educational programs or assists in the development of educational materials related to clinical areas of expertise/improvement efforts. Educates and trains leadership, staff and physicians regarding the quality program and their respective responsibilities in carrying out the program. Serves as a regional and system clinical resource. Provides education regarding clinical data as it pertains to clinical outcomes, resource utilization, and clinical efficiency.

  • Enhances the organization's and the larger healthcare community's knowledge of quality improvement and best practices through literature review, interaction with internal and external resources, and knowledge of evolving relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Analyzes patient care information from data sources. Identifies real or potential concerns and oversees development of recommendations to correct or prevent concerns. Develops succinct and comprehensive reports detailing quality improvement activities, including periodic reporting of organizational performance data.

  • Aligns quality processes and metrics across assigned entities based on best practice in coordination with system and regional leadership. Standardizes functions and processes to focus on supporting the quality goals of the system, region, and ministry. Supports standard mortality review process with emphasis on process improvement.

  • Recruits, engages, develops, leads, and manages assigned staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree

EXPERIENCE

  • Seven years' experience, with five years' in leadership
