Title: Assistant Controller

Department : Accounting

Reports To : Controller

FLSA: Exempt

Purpose :

Essential Job Functions :

  • Promote safety in all actions.

  • Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process, including preparing and entering all required journal entries.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet account analysis.

  • Perform budget vs. actual analysis.

  • Help prepare annual budget.

  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.

  • Respond to audit requests by outside auditors, various governmental agencies, and insurance companies to include preparation of PBCs.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual audited company financial statements.

  • Work closely with outside tax professionals for preparation of tax returns

  • Direct all banking activities, including sending ACH payments.

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Carry out additional duties assigned by CFO or Controller as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Minimum five (5) years hands-on accounting experience, to include closing and account reconciliation experience.

  • Great Plains accounting software experience and expertise is helpful.

  • CPA is helpful.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-starter with detail-oriented work habits.

  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking working knowledge.

  • Display good oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

  • Displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.

  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Display professional demeanor.

  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals.

  • Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.

  • Basic computer skills to include Excel spreadsheet proficiency.

  • Adherence to basic company employment policies and procedures.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, and talking, hearing and visual activity.

  • Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds).

    Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copier/printer/scanners.
