Where the chemistry happens…

We are seeking a safety conscious professional like you to join our Analytics and Materials Characterization group in Beachwood, OH.

The Analytics and Materials Characterization team is dedicated to analytical problem-solving through a variety of characterization techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, elemental analysis, and physical testing. We specialize in the analysis of catalysts, energy materials, and zeolites/molecular sieves. The laboratory is a high-volume and fast-paced environment, supporting the research of BASF scientists in North America and globally.

As a Chemist I, You Create Chemistry By...

  • Performing a wide variety of surface area and porosity measurements using gas adsorption, laser diffraction, and porosimetry instruments.

  • Executing analysis of multiple material types, including fresh and spent catalysts, battery materials, and zeolites.

  • Designing and developing new testing methods to troubleshoot and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory and/or plant analytical equipment.

  • Reporting data to researchers through the LIMS system.

  • Assisting in other areas as needed, including spectroscopy and thermal analysis.

  • Maintaining quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of reported data while adhering to ISO and quality standards.

If you...

  • Have a BS/BA in Chemistry or equivalent.

  • Are experienced in working with Porosimetry, laser diffraction, and gas adsorption analysis for catalysts and battery materials.

  • Possess prior experience working in an ISO-regulated environment.

  • Possess prior experience working with spectroscopy and thermal analysis.
