:
- Performs skilled technical work maintaining the City water metering systems, including testing, repairing, installing, and replacing meters and components; enters meter information on database; tests and oversees testing of backflow prevention assemblies.
- Performs job duties within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Must have and maintain a cell phone for City use to hold this position.
- Supports the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
:
High school diploma
or GED
required
; AND two years' meter installation and repair experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Methods and procedures used to install, test, maintain and repair water meters and components.
- American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards.
- Safe work practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions in a work shop environment.
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
