Responsibilities

The Vines Hospital is seeking a PRN Dietary Aide to work evening/weekend shifts

The overall functions of this position includes but is not limited to:

  • Prepare and serve regular and special diets to residents and employees under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Dietary Supervisor. The Dietary Aide is responsible for, but not exclusive of:

  • Assisting the cook staff with the safe and sanitary preparation of the patients and facility staff meals.

  • Ensuring the cafeteria and dining room remain clean at all times.

  • Assisting in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.

  • Operating the dish machine.

  • Stocking and the distribution of snacks on each unit as required.

  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

  • Must have a general passion for customer service and food quality.

    Qualifications

Education and/ or Work Experience Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

  • Food handler permit preferred.

  • High school graduate or equivalency required. Trade or vocational school training preferred.

  • Three months experience in a healthcare or hospital environment or an active student in a culinary base degree or certification preferred.

  • Wash and put away dishes in any area of the kitchen.

  • Sweep, mop and maintain a clean department to include all areas related to the kitchen.

  • Assist and prepare special events as needed and to deliver such events in a timely manner.

  • “Break down” such events.

  • Set up and break down the service line for meals.

  • Work with co-workers to gain knowledge of the kitchen, recipes, menus and the day-to-day routine.
