FirstService Residential Golf Starter/Ranger (Part-Time) in Ocala, Florida
Job Overview:
This position is responsible for providing exceptional member services by ensuring the golf carts are stocked and ready for golfers and maintaining the range and practice areas to the highest standards. Typical hours vary depending on the season.
Your Responsibilities:
- Greet each member/guest, unload their bag, record their names, offer services as appropriate.
- Communicate information as necessary with the golf shop by radio.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility each day.
- Prepare and maintain the range for use by members.
- Maintain equipment including golf carts and picker; organize cart barn as needed.
- Keep all areas of the range, practice facility and golf carts fully stocked for members.
- Maintain the readiness of the range for use by members, keep the target greens clear of balls.
- Follow the daily closing procedures for assigned course.
- Operate all equipment according to safety guidelines and report any safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as established by FirstService Residential and SummerGlen HOA.
- Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position.
Starter:
- Advises on court conditions (90 degree carts, cart paths only and other pertinent data of the day, event and course).
- Advises members and guests about restrictions, if any, and answers all questions accurately and courteously.
- Pairs up singles and twosomes to make foursomes whenever possible.
- Keeps track of actual variances in tee times due to early tee-off, no shows or late tee-times.
- Recognizes players who are slow or fast and communicates with ranger about same in an effort to maintain smooth play, working to attain approximately four hour rounds, course and pace of play.
- Using tee sheet times, ensures that groups make turn so as to assist ranger to help flow and pace of play.
- Keep in touch with the Cart Barn to have them retrieve extra carts.
- Cleans cart and puts it on charger at the end of the day.
Ranger:
- Enforces cart regulations and proper pace of play.
- Patrols course in review order (18 to 1).
- Post course conditions signs as necessary.
- Keep extra towels, pencils and scorecards on hand
- Keeps extra sand on hand to fill divots as well as keeping a ball mark repair tool.
- Keeps copies of daily play sheets and makes sure all updates are on the sheets.
- Assists starters as necessary in starting groups.
- Check restrooms for cleanliness and supplies.
- Checks ball washers for water and towels.
- Checks ice machines.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Knowledge of golf is a plus, but not required
- Positive attitude and good manners are a must
- Ability to work weekends
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 30 – 50 lbs.
- Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
- Constant movement about the facility and grounds.
- Frequent operation of equipment including picker and golf carts.
- Frequent communication with members, must be able to exchange accurate information.
- Frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work is mostly outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
Schedule : Varies based on the needs of the community.
What We Offer:
As a part-time non-exempt associate, you will be eligible for supplemental benefits to include your dental and vision. Occasional travel may be required to attend training and other company functions.
Compensation : $14.00 - $15.00 hourly
