Job Summary and Qualifications
The EMS Training Specialist will work in close conjunction with the EMS Manager and Medical Director to ensure a robust quality assurance and training Program for Ambulance service providers. The QA/TR Officer is expected to operate with a reasonable degree of independence and to exercise good judgment in the performance of such duties. Additionally, the QA/TR Officer works with field personnel to update and improve the accuracy and efficiency of the interrelated systems, processes and procedures regarding the delivery of Transport Services ensuring compliance with applicable Florida statures and administrative rules. This position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment in meeting numerous and varied situations as well as a working knowledge of existing policies/protocols.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to select, recruit, coach, and retain superior staff
Must be adept in professional relationship building, recognize the needs and concerns of people, and maintain constructive relationships in dealing with others
High proficiency with computer technology, critical thinking, and public speaking skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills to act as a liaison between patient care and senior administration
Ability to evaluate the quality of emergency care in the out of hospital interfacility transport environment and effectively coordinate processes for safe and efficient patient disposition
Must have knowledge of current EMT, Paramedic, Critical Care, and RN scope of practice
Must be skilled in-patient triage, assessment, intervention, and evaluation practices
Must be capable of establishing and maintaining appropriate standards of care
Knowledge and experience with pre-hospital EMS protocols Working knowledge of educational techniques related to the delivery of EMS education & training
What qualifications you will need:
BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PALS all from the American Heart Assoc or American Red Cross
Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
Emergency Vehicle operation course
Associate Degree in emergency medical services/paramedic or certificate of completion in EMS (EMT/Paramedic)
Minimum 3 years previous clinical exp with an advance life support EMS system
