SUMMARY:

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a Manager, Quality Control who will be reporting to the Associate Director, Quality. As the Manager Quality Control, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed by the Quality Control Supervisors and Inspectors are performed in a manner compliant with approved technical data, QMS requirements and company policies and procedures.

This Position is working Onsite at our Oakville Ontario facility

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Quality Control teams in Assembly and Calibration departments. Also, manage key customer account ensuring all Quality requirements are achieved

  • Planning, managing, and executing actions to ensure compliance with regulatory, quality management systems, customer and process approval.

  • Ensure adequate support for calibration of tools and fixtures to support production needs.

  • Have the drive for process improvement for internal and external calibration activities and processes.

  • Provide leadership to the Quality Control staff including mentoring, coaching, training, recruiting, performance management and employee development.

  • Act as the primary focal for CORE (Lean System) on the Shop Floor, including working with the team to drive continuous improvement through process improvement initiatives, drive measurable outputs and engage stake holders for accountability.

  • Promote synergies and teamwork across all functions.

  • Confer with other departments to achieve on time delivery & operations commitments.

  • Act as the primary focal for UPPAP on the Shop Floor.

  • Follow UTAS quality procedures and specific instructions.

  • Ensure First Article Inspection (FAI) of Landing Gear Detail Parts are planned & completed to drawings / models as per AS9102 for all parts.

  • Responsible for the inspection activities & acceptance of detail parts in Assembly; including inter-site or vendor off loads.

  • Evaluate products & processes for acceptance criteria, initiate Corrective Actions where required to remove (or mitigate) root causes.

  • Act pro-actively to ensure safe work environment through formal audits & continuous contact with shop floor QC work areas.

  • Coordinate overtime, vacation schedules & necessary coverage.

  • Ensure QC technicians have clear expectations, focus & sufficient resources to complete assigned tasks and direct 5S workplace organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a quality control and/or manufacturing environment

  • Must have previous people management experience in Quality/Manufacturing sector or similar.

  • Demonstrated bias for action in a team environment

  • Eligible to work in Canada; Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CGD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience

  • Excellent people and organizational skills

  • Experience with FAI in accordance with AS9102

  • Aerospace industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of blueprints and GD&T geometric tolerance

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong ability to interpret technical and regulatory data accurately
