Merit Electrical Group Junior Estimator - Electrical in Oakmont, Pennsylvania

We are seeking a full-time, Junior Estimator.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Read and interpret plans and specifications for projects bidding

  • Complete computerized project bid takeoff and summaries by requested dates

  • Prepare scope of work clarifications and note special conditions

  • Attend pre-bid meetings, make site visits and fill out site visit checklist

  • Contact vendors and subcontractors to assure adequate pricing for the projects and adequate scope coverage

  • Maintain relationship with vendors and subcontractors in an effort to promote partnering

  • Review incoming scope prepared by vendors and subcontractors for compliance with contract requirements

  • Note any special conditions or considerations taken while in take-off mode on drawings

  • Assist in preparation for turnover meetings with project managers and prepare documents and reports for turnover

  • Prepare Change Order Proposals as required by construction group

  • Maintain accurate and organized files on all projects estimated

  • Continually improve and increase ability to estimate Electrical projects

  • Manage time and deadlines effectively in accordance with estimating schedules

  • Prepare proposal letters – provide list of scope, inclusions/exclusions

    Job Requirements:

  • ​​​​​​​ Preferred one (1) year field experience in the electrical trade

  • Must have completed and graduated an accredited trade school program

  • Outstanding organizational skills, excellent time management, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high volume environment

  • Computer Skills; Excel, Word, Outlook, Estimating Software System

  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Effective problem-solving ability to research and satisfactorily resolve issues

  • Must exhibit attention to detail and commitment

  • Acquire a working knowledge of the Estimating Software System. Acquire the ability to operate the systems through training
