Burt’s Bees Case Study Opportunity

Case Competition Details:

Burt’s Bees will host a cross-functional case competition as part of the internship and full-time selection process. Students will work in teams on a Burt’s Bees sustainability case study, and propose solutions that could positively impact our business through innovation. As a participant in the case competition, you will gain valuable first-hand knowledge of work in the CPG Industry and an interview for an open internship or full-time position with Burt’s Bees and The Clorox Company.

Tentative Case Study Agenda includes:

August 30

  • Application Deadline

September 22

  • Selected participants travel to Durham, NC (Burt’s Bees HQ or location TBD nearby)

  • 3PM ET: Case Competition Kick-Off

  • Introduction to Clorox & Burt’s Bee

  • All Day: Time with team to work on case challenge and presentation

  • All Day: Mentors available to help teams work on case challenge

  • 9AM ET: Teams presentation to judge panel of Burt’s Bees Leadership Team

  • 1PM ET: Awards for case winners

  • 2PM: Interviews for ALL participants

All participates will receive an interview for an internship or full-time role.

Sales & Customer Analytics Requirements:

Key Skills:

  • Strong Project Management Capabilities

  • Technical Knowledge of the Area (knowledge of key systems/tools (i.e. IRI, BW, Siebel, Microsoft Excel, Access)

  • Communication and Interpersonal Relationship Management

  • Teamwork

  • Ability to learn and apply understanding of Clorox processes, policies and systems

Finance / Accounting Requirements:

Responsibilities can include:

  • Report actual performance vs. forecast, including identifying key variance drivers

  • Plan, execute and improve the quarterly financial forecasting and/or close process

  • Prepare journal entries and monthly and quarterly account reconciliations

  • Prepare and analyze volume shipment reports with key performance drivers for senior management

  • Ensure accuracy of cost and spending related accounts on financial statements

  • Execute monthly and quarterly close in accordance with GAAP for revenue, deductions, trade spending, unsaleable, discounts and sales-related expenditures

  • Support financial statement preparation and maintain strong control environment

  • Identify and influence system improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness

  • Develop insights to drive the business

Qualifications:

  • Rising Junior or Senior (Undergraduate) or Master’s student majoring in Finance, Accounting, or Economics

  • Desired GPA: 3.3 or higher

  • Completion of 3 to 6 hours of coursework in Finance or Accounting

  • Experience working with MS Office Products with a primary focus on MS Excel

  • Passion to learn and evolve with changing business needs

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Manage individual workload and deliver to agree upon project milestones

  • Partner with IT Manager on day-to-day responsibilities of project work

  • Provide subject matter expertise/analysis relative to software or hardware delivery

  • Facilitate communications between the various stakeholders and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams

Requirements:

  • IT relevant work/college experience

Process Research & Development Co-op

Position Description:

As a Product Development Co-op for Burt’s Bees, you will work with a team of engineers and scientists located in Durham, North Carolina to deliver and maintain a robust pipeline of innovative personal care and cosmetic products for this fast paced, exciting and growing business. You will have a variety of assignments within the Burt’s Bees Lab, Pilot Plant and Manufacturing facility. This is a full time position, with the expectation that you will work 40 hours per week for a 6-month period.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Sophomore or above in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is preferred

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Offers of employment are contingent upon proof of the applicant’s legal right to work and be employed in the United States as a full time employee after graduation

  • Experience and familiarity in a chemistry lab

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Supply Chain Leadership Development Program

(Start Dates, June 2022 and January 2023)

The Supply Chain Leadership Development Program (SCLDP) at Clorox provides you with the opportunity to rotate through three diverse roles within key areas of our Product Supply Organization and offers far more than your typical entry-level job. During each of the three assignments (Technical, Business and Manufacturing), participants will take on full-time responsibility of their functional role while also completing the Leadership Development Curriculum and activities. We’re looking for well-rounded, intelligent, driven individuals who have the passion to become a future leader at Clorox. Key Responsibilities

  • Quickly get up to speed and deliver solid results in functional assignments – 70%

  • Complete the Leadership Development Curriculum requirements of SCLDP – 10%

  • Gain exposure to other facilities (internal & external) and cross-functional teams – 5%

  • Assist in the on-going development of the SCLDP and annual campus recruiting activities – 5%

  • Actively seek leadership experiences inside and outside of the functions – 5%

People Management & Leadership Opportunity

During the Manufacturing rotation, participants are given the opportunity to supervise production employees for the 12 month assignment.

What You Need to Succeed in This Program:

  • Previous internship/work experience (manufacturing experience desired)

  • Strong leadership skills and a track record of achieving results

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and build relationships

  • Geographic mobility to the Atlanta area as well as field locations throughout US required
