Purpose:

The Pharmacy Director of Operations & Regulatory Compliance is responsible for implementing, tracking, monitoring, reviewing, interpreting, and communicating all aspects of existing, proposed, and newly enacted federal and state rules and regulations as it pertains to the practice of allied health professionals. Conditions of Participation relative to the practice of pharmacy, nursing, and nutrition within the health system. Collaborates with the other Directors, managers, supervisors, and appropriate staff who are responsible and accountable for decisions affecting operations and compliance with enacted federal and state rules and regulations. Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Research the rules and regulations of each individual Board(s) of Pharmacy to make sure the services provided are permitted and will identify the rules and regulations and inform the leadership team of the findings. Apply for state licensure for appropriate pharmacies. Compile all pertinent information, documentation, signatures etc. Complete, submit and maintain a file of the documentation. If Individual state licensure is required by pharmacists, nurses and/or dietitians, work with management to identify team members to obtain licensure. Provide them with the details to complete this task. Ensure redundancy of individual licensure. Maintains records of the renewal requirements and manages the timely submittal of renewal applications to keep Chartwell licensure current and in compliance with each Board of Pharmacy. Electronic copies of all applications are maintained by the department.? Follows all applications (pharmacy(s) and pharmacists) through to completion and ensures all licenses and are displayed appropriately.

  • Liaison between Chartwell and the state boards to manage and resolve any issues that may arise. Complete gap analyses for compliance with additions and changes to the standards, rules, and regulations. Assess potential impact, current trends and issues and timeliness for compliance. Develop and/or update policies and procedure as warranted or yearly. Provide timely and accurate communication, both written and verbal. Budget requirements such as, operating expenses and required staffing hours, are managed according to UPMC standards. Quality and patient satisfaction is maintained within defined standards through oversight of systems which provide for proper controls of the pharmacy services. Develops and implements new approaches and strategies to optimize the use of operating resources. Analyzes resource consumption (e.g. FTE's and medication use) to ensure efficient and effective use of these resources. Directs the daily operations of pharmacy services in accordance with patient care needs, department strategic plan, ASHP, ACHC, NABP, and URAC. Design and implement operational services, including dispensing and compounded product preparation.

Qualifications:

  • B.S./PharmD degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy

  • 5 years of pharmacy experience

  • 3 years of hospital or home infusion experience preferred

  • 3 year of management experience preferred

  • Willingness to obtain and maintain additional state licensure, upon request (mandatory).

  • Excellent research and verbal/communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Pharmacist
