The Department of Corrections is hiring a Library Technician at the Oak Park Heights Facility. This position exists to coordinate and supervise education student testing, and to provide administrative support to the education department in meeting facility and DOC education goals.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

  • Experience in a library, education, or office setting

  • Knowledge of library classification systems and standard library reference tools sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and conducting research

  • Ability to apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems to create tracking for new print and non-print library acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials

  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment

  • Experience using email, calendar, presentation, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office or similar)

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • An Associate's degree or higher

  • Experience working in a library setting

  • Experience working in an educational setting

  • Experience working in a correctional setting

Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
