The Transportation Specialist will work out of the Corporate office in Oakbrook, IL and will be responsible for the inbound tracking and tracing of the MPS National Return program, monitoring, and identifying potential service disruptions and working on solutions. The Transportation Assistant will also be responsible for data entry into the Mauser Transportation Management System as required for any of the MPS site\'s inbound shipments. The position will report to Joel Phillips and work closely with any/all Regional Management.

Essential Functions

  • Proficient in operations planning with our Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Correctly troubleshoot, investigate, resolve and/or escalate issues with suggested resolution
  • Monitor carriers (Private Fleet, Dedicated Fleet and Common Carriers) to ensure daily transportation operations run safely, efficiently and on time
  • Assist in the development, planning and modification of daily schedules as appropriate; make notifications to customer service and the operations manager as to the status of shipments
  • Proactively communicate with customers, MPS employees (CS, Operations, Sourcing) and the management team to ensure necessary requirements are met
  • Accurately enter data into the transportation management system; maintain and generate required reports
  • Monitor and ensure proper coding application in a timely matter; escalate as needed
  • Maintain statement of work audit schedule and distribute updates to all team members
  • Point of contact for shipment status requests/tracking from stakeholders (Emptiers, CS, Facilities, Sourcing)
  • Track and trace activities to ensure optimal service
  • Hold carriers accountable for service and service level agreements

Qualifications - What you need to succeed at MPS

  • 2 years of transportation experience
  • TMS experience
  • High School Degree or higher
  • Experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office, including creating complex formulas in Excel
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting clean, organized and thorough information and data for the intended audience
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload
