Amazon Senior Technical Program Manager, Region Services in NSW, Australia

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the Region Services organization and serve as a technical expert, taking the lead in solving some of the most challenging operational problems in mission critical clouds.

The Sr. TPM will drive large-scale global projects and initiatives, influencing cross-functional teams to focus on the delivery of new workflow features and tools that enhance productivity, open capacity at a faster rate, and secure devices to AWS standards.

We are looking for a passionate, deeply technical, and results-oriented Sr. TPM to define and drive Region Services initiatives. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmap, using Agile and incremental delivery methods

If you like to focus on the customer experience, enjoy thinking and acting globally, and want to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon.com data centers, we’d like to meet you!

Key job responsibilities

• Work in conjunction with a team of Data Center Managers and hourly employees across multiple data centers, on finding better ways to install, maintain network and server hardware.

• Demonstrate ownership to improve the safety, security, and availability of our data center operations.

• Provide mentorship for indirect reports and members of the organization (Technicians and Technical Program Managers).

• Dedicate time to ongoing learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective.

• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally.

Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability)

A day in the life

• You will gather business requirements, document functional and design specifications, define User Acceptance Criteria for testing software, ensure systems capture applicable data to enable the customer to measure how effective their processes and leveraged software are from a day to day basis, identify and assemble the appropriate resources for each project, assign individual responsibilities, and develop the milestones and launch schedule to ensure timely and successful delivery of the project.

• You will contribute with cross-functional business and technical skills, assess and manage risks, measure and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs with the technical constraints.

• You rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables.

• You will manage repair requests in a high volume environment, as well as managing response to high severity events

• You will present to Sr. Leadership on a regular basis, demonstrating the ability to synthesize the problems and the solutions into a simple and consumable manner

• You be responsible for data collection, analytics and dashboard creation as a way to help others recognize the best path to make the business better.

• Expect to travel globally where and when needed to manage and/or support initiatives of the teams you will support.

• The TPM has to work closely with its core customer, data center technicians to be successful.
