Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Hematology Oncology to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in primary care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Both NP/PA and new graduates are acceptable. Students graduating in the next 4 months are not eligible.

This is an amazing opportunity to work with a large (11 provider practice, 7 physicians and 4 apps) collaborative and integrated team. Our system service line approach offers significant support and educational programs for patients and staff.

To be completed by APP:

  • Bone Marrow Biopsy

  • Intrathecal Chemotherapy

(department will train for both procedures as needed)

  • Monitoring chemotherapy infusion room

  • Inpatient hospital rounding and outpatient responsibilities.

Schedule– 40 hours. Five, 8-hour days.

Weekend requirement– Intermittent rare weekend coverage. Examples will be given during interview process.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in any of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.

Qualifications:

· NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

· PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

· NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

· PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

· Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

· National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)

· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

· DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

· Must be board certified or board eligible as PA or NP, Hematology/Oncology or inpatient medicine hospital preferred, but not required.

Experience

· EPIC Experience, preferred.
