About the Role:

As theRural Outreach and Engagement Program Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the University's commitment to supporting rural students. Your work will involve not only recruiting these talented students but also building strong relationships with their families, high school counselors, and community leaders. This is an opportunity to be a part of a team that is dedicated to ensuring that rural students have access to the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive at Notre Dame. Key Responsibilities:

  • Rural Student Recruitment:You'll be on the front lines of recruiting rural prospective students, traveling to key communities (6-8 weeks of travel annually) to connect with students, parents, and educators. Your ability to build relationships and offer support will be vital in guiding these students through the admissions process.
  • Relationship Building:Establish and maintain meaningful connections with prospective students, their families, high school counselors, alumni, and community-based organizations. Your role will be to provide accurate admissions information, ongoing encouragement, and personalized support.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:Manage two student interns focused on rural outreach and engagement. Collaborate with colleagues across campus to implement Notre Dame's rural outreach strategy, ensuring that it aligns with our broader enrollment goals.
  • Engagement and Communication:Host dynamic information sessions both on campus and virtually for high school counselors, prospective students, and their families. You'll also represent Notre Dame as the primary rural contact, offering guidance and support throughout the admissions process.
  • Admissions Committee Participation:Play an active role in Admissions Committee meetings, where your insights into the needs and strengths of rural students will be invaluable in shaping our incoming class.
  • Yield Activities:Support, plan, and execute admitted student yield events specifically designed for rural students, helping to ensure that they choose Notre Dame as their academic home.
  • Special Projects:Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by senior leaders within the Enrollment Division, contributing to the overall success of our rural initiatives.

*The principal work location is at the University of Notre Dame. Up to two days per week work from home may be possible after the training period has been successfully completed.

This is a two year limited term position with potential of extending based on funding.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Possess excellent time management and perceptive interpersonal abilities
  • Operate effectively in both independent and team environments
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills in English (oral and written) for both individual and groups in-person and virtually
  • Demonstrate leadership ability that can be developed
  • Have knowledge of and experience with computer systems and software applications, especially Microsoft Office and Google
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Higher Education and rural students and families
  • Possess a valid driver's license (required) and a U.S. passport (preferred)
