The Director, FP&A - Corporate will partner closely with Group Finance and FP&A leaders and is responsible for the oversight of all FP&A activities across IDEX globally pertaining to budgeting, strategic financial planning, forecasting, consolidated financial reporting and analysis. The Director, FP&A - Corporate will have strong communications skills in driving accountability, strong analytical rigor and continuous improvement.

In addition to the core FP&A requirements, the Director, FP&A - Corporate will mentor and coach a small team. The Director, FP&A - Corporate role will also play a key supporting role in driving FP&A transformation globally and will contribute to Investor Relations key activities.

This position will report to the VP of FP&A and Investor Relations and will be based at the IDEX Corporate Offices located in the Chicago area or remotely in a US time zone.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Forecasting, Reporting & Analysis:

  • Lead the Corporate FP&A function in preparing and maintaining accurate financial forecasts, considering various scenarios and market dynamics, providing insightful analytics and high-level guidance to senior leadership.

  • Lead forecasting processes including budget, strategic long range plan and quarterly forecasts.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and other supplemental operational metrics representing forecasts and actual results (beyond pure financials, including cost out reporting, inflation, pricing, headcount, growth, and other balanced scorecard metrics).

  • Develop executive reporting packages and board presentation materials that provide financial insights on business performance, growth drivers and competitor benchmarking.

  • Ensure the timely delivery of robust Questions and Answers documents for quarterly earnings analyst and investor calls, and provide thoughtful analytics and commentary to the VP, FP&A and IR as key input in the construction of a compelling narrative to investors.

  • Examine, analyze and interpret financial data to determine trends and gaps within the results

  • Prepare meaningful variance analysis commentary for management and publish accurate and timely financial reporting packages.

  • Generate insights for executive management to effectively prioritize and resource allocate for the company to consistently achieve financial goals.

  • Identify business and financial risks and opportunities to drive senior management action.

FP&A processes, optimization and tools:

  • Collaborate with the Groups in identifying areas of continuous improvement; initiate knowledge sharing, develop tools and processes to improve analytical capabilities; and drive the operational effectiveness of the FP&A organization across IDEX.

  • Liaison with corporate IT / optimization leaders and stakeholders in the businesses to improve data quality and accessibility as well as continuous improvement / best practice sharing on dynamic data analytics tools and uses (Eg; PowerBI, Webi’s, Tableau, Commercial OneStream…).

  • Partner with accounting, tax and treasury teams regarding planning for any changes in business structure, strategy or regulatory requirements.

Leadership:

  • Mentor and coach a team capable of supporting the operational rhythm of the Groups and senior leadership in providing connected insights into business performance, trends, and growth drivers.

  • Develop and lead FP&A training and best practice sharing across organization.

  • Cultivate a team culture that delivers results timely and accurately through critical thinking, deep partnerships and indirect influence across corporate, groups and business unit finance leaders.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

  • 10-12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; manufacturing experience and previous FP&A experience.

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.

  • Self-starter, strong desire of getting results and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information related to business updates and organization changes.

  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial professionals.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail (emphasis on accuracy and timeliness) while being able to step back and analyze overall business impact.

  • Outstanding leadership, communication/presentation and interpersonal skills. Proven as an experienced, confident and mature manager.

  • Experience with financial forecasting tools (Hyperion or OneStream and reporting/dashboard tools (Power BI or Tableau).
