We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team based in SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts. The primary function of this role will be to manage the accounting and financial aspects of our grant programs. Working closely with the finance team, this position will require a deep understanding of grant accounting, financial policies and procedures, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of grant claims for various programs

• Ensuring all transactions comply with required financial policies and procedures

• Preparation, maintenance and submission of funding claims with required backup materials

• Organizing and maintaining contract documents and related materials

• Meeting all funder and departmental deadlines

• Assisting with monthly releases of temporarily restricted funds

• Accounting for grant income

• Conducting regular reconciliation with the Development department

• Adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in all duties

• Performing other related duties as assigned

Skills

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger management

• Ability to prepare Journal Entries and handle Month End Close operations

• Familiarity with "Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT"

• Experience in Grant Accounting, Government Grants, and Federal Grant management.

Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a Staff Accountant role

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close processes

• Proficiency in using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT software

• Knowledge of Grant Accounting, Government Grants, and Federal Grant procedures

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• Knowledge of accounting principles and ethical standards to ensure accurate reporting and recording of financial data.
