ARAMARK Registered Dietitian in North York, Ontario
Job Description
Aramark has an immediate need for a Registered Dietitian at one of our Long Term Care client homes in North York, Ontario. In this role, you will be involved in the nutritional care of residents, working in conjunction with other members of the health care team to promote the optimal health and well being of all residents. This will be a part time, temporary position for up to one year, covering a maternity leave.
Job Responsibilities
Nutritional Care of Residents
Nutritional screening, assessment, planning, monitoring evaluation and communication with the resident's nutritional care plan together and in consultation with other members of the muti-disciplinary team.
Diet, nourishment, and texture modification recommendations appropriate for the resident's medical condition(s), personal needs and quality of life.
Encourage nutrition intervention and utilize whenever possible to minimize resident's use of medication.
Ensure nutritional care programs comply with established standards and guideline for Long Term Care.
Quarterly nutrition reviews and attendance at resident care conferences.
Swallowing assessment within the RD's scope of practice.
Consultation or education of residents and their family members.
Participates in the development and monitoring of risk management and quality improvement processes for nutritional care.
Participates in Home specific nutritional care initiatives as approved by the Administrator.
Food Service Provision
Menu/nourishment planning and review for all diets.
Ensure menus are nutritionally complete and adapted to meet residents' needs.
Recipe development activity.
Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures in the Food Service Department.
Committee Participation
Professional Advisory Committee meetings.
Quality Council meetings as required.
Staff Education
Lead and participate in continuing education to upgrade skills and knowledge (e.g. in-services, volunteer instruction and meal enhancement program).
Develop training/education programs as appropriate.
Continuing Education
Attend Aramark Sponsored workshops/seminars.
Participate in education programs for continual upgrading of knowledge and skills.
Workshops affiliated with professional associations.
Consulting
Development and monitoring of policies, procedures and/or programs as appropriate.
Consultative resource to all staff, including Food Service Manager and Supervisor.

Qualifications
Education
Successful completion of a degree in Food & Nutrition from an accredited University and a one year internship in an accredited program.
Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
Membership in Dietitians of Canada and asset.
Experience
Minimum 3 years work experience with varied responsibilities for therapeutics, administration and supervision, preferably in a long-term care setting.
Demonstrated leadership, decision making, problem solving and communication skills.
Swallowing assessment experience an asset.
Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate flexibility.
Ability to maintain high professional and ethical standard.
Willingness to take on new challenges and develop professionally.
